[Saba Sports News] Not too long ago, Virat Kohli was going through his worst phase as a batter as a century eluded him for over 1,000 days from December 2019 to August 2022.
However, as soon as that drought ended in a T20 match versus Afghanistan in September last year, the run-machine got his magic back and now is sitting at 77 international hundreds in total.
Reflecting on how he overcame his struggles, Kohli shared that he watched numerous old videos of himself doing what he does at his best.
He even talked about his own way of celebrating on the field, saying that it is now a thing of the past.
“Those angry celebrations are a thing of the past. I have had many suggestions, lots of advice
has come my way; people were telling me I was doing this wrong, that
wrong. I picked out all the videos from the best time I had, same initial
movement, same approach towards the ball and it was just what was
happening inside my head, I wasn’t able to explain it to anyone,” Kohli said as quoted to ICC.
Although the India great is again back among the runs and even tons, the road ahead for him is tough as his team will be vying for an ICC trophy in the ODI World Cup 2023, which starts on October 5.
India’s campaign in the tournament will begin with the clash versus Australia on October 8 and for them to have a shot at the title, Kohli must continue to fire throughout the competition.
