Earlier, Wembanyama announced that he would represent the French men’s basketball team in Paris next summer, talking about the goal of the Olympic Games, Wembanyama confidently said: “Success in the Olympic Games will be a great story.” We have no other goal than the gold medal. I watched the World Cup and it was very disappointing. However, I’m not worried about our journey to the Olympics next year. I have nothing to say because I didn’t play in the World Cup this year. Basketball is now won and lost by the top players, and a poor result in this year’s World Cup will not affect our success in next year’s Olympics.”
Speaking about the Spurs’ target for the new season, Wembanyama said: “The ideal is to make the playoffs. As for the goals of other teammates, I don’t know at the moment, preferably bigger than me. It’s no secret that winning a ring in the NBA is hard. But I’m patient. I know it’s going to happen. Not having a good record in the first few years is not going to stop me from competing to be a Hall of Fame player, and it’s not going to stop me from being a good player five years from now.”
