[Saba Sports News] Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans can rejoice as star batsman Virat Kohli has joined the team’s training camp. Kohli, the face of the franchise since the IPL’s inception, arrived in Bengaluru on March 18 after missing initial training sessions due to the birth of his second child.
Wasting no time, Kohli hit the ground running at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This intense practice session comes ahead of a crucial season opener against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scheduled on March 22.
Kohli’s presence is a major boost for RCB, who have never clinched the IPL trophy despite reaching the finals thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2016. The former skipper, who stepped down from the role in 2021, will be looking to lead RCB’s batting charge alongside players like Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell.
This IPL season is particularly important for Kohli as his form will be closely monitored with the T20 World Cup scheduled for June in the USA and the Caribbean.
Last IPL season, Kohli displayed a resurgence in form, scoring 639 runs with two centuries and six fifties. Fans will be hoping he can replicate that success and guide RCB to their maiden IPL title.
