Expert Grant Hughes has written a long article listing the top X-factor players for each team at this stage. Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers’ core, and Jonathan Kuminga, the Warriors’ junior, both made the list. The Los Angeles Lakers are special, and the Purple and Gold may have to rely on the play of reserve shooter Max Christie.
The Clippers won’t have a free pick in the draft for the next few years until 2030, with the following first-round picks or swaps going to other teams. After Paul George’s departure, the Clippers apparently gave up the possibility of a championship, but for the sake of the box office and the future of the team, at least secure playoff tickets.
