[Saba Sports News] The groundbreaking and project promotion meeting for the Lin Dan International Badminton Education Center of Hainan Foreign Language School Affiliated to Beijing Foreign Studies University was held in Chengmai County, Hainan Province. Olympic badminton champion Lin Dan and world champion Xie Xingfang attended the event.
The project is jointly developed by Hainan Foreign Language School Affiliated to Beijing Foreign Studies University and Danhui (Guangzhou) Sports Culture Co., Ltd. As China’s first international badminton sports education program, it covers a total area of 115 mu with a total investment of 100 million US dollars. The teaching area spans 100,000 square meters, with an investment of 74 million US dollars, while the badminton training hall occupies 36,000 square meters, costing 26 million US dollars.
Planned to have nearly 100 professional badminton courts meeting international competition standards, the center adopts a dual-core layout combining academic teaching and professional training. It is an integrated complex featuring international education, elite athlete training and boarding services that integrates sports and education. Upon completion, it will be the world’s first and China’s exclusive Lin Dan International Badminton Education Center, setting a model for formal academic education and the integration of sports and education.
In my opinion, this is a high-standard and forward-looking pilot project. If it can effectively integrate sports and education, achieve sustainable operation and build genuine international connections, it will serve as an industry benchmark. However, if it merely becomes a named venue or an exclusive training camp for a small group of elites, it will hardly represent an innovative breakthrough. As the project has just started construction, it is too early to draw a conclusion.
