[Saba Sports News] On Thursday, local time, 14 women’s Bundesliga clubs issued a joint statement declaring that due to differences in contract terms, they will independently advance the establishment of a new league without the involvement of the German Football Association (DFB).In November, these clubs had reached an agreement with the DFB to jointly form this new league organization, which is planned to mirror the structure of men’s professional football, with the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga operated by the German Football League (DFL). This new entity was originally intended to operate independently, aiming to further professionalize women’s football in Germany and capitalize on the recent surge in popularity. The clubs committed to invest €700 million, and the DFB agreed to contribute an additional €100 million. In return, the DFB would hold a 50% stake in the new organization, while the remaining 50% would be evenly distributed among the clubs. It was also announced that the inaugural meeting would take place in December at the DFB campus, during which a new president would be elected and the company officially established. However, on Thursday, the clubs stated in a joint declaration that there were contractual discrepancies and announced that they would continue to pursue the establishment of the league without DFB’s involvement.
