[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man has been formally charged with slapping Manchester City player Jack Grealish after the Manchester derby. Witnesses described that as Grealish walked towards the dressing room after the 0-0 derby, a fan from the Stretford End invited him to come closer. The subsequent physical altercation caused shock, and the police immediately launched an investigation. A Manchester police spokesperson confirmed that Alfie Holt from Droylsden has been charged with assault and will appear in Manchester Magistrates’ Court in July. Despite the sudden attack, Grealish was not seriously injured. Both Manchester City and Manchester United declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation. It is reported that Manchester United is actively cooperating with the police. This violent incident adds further stain to an already controversial match. During the game, Manchester City star Phil Foden was continuously subjected to insulting chants targeting his mother by Manchester United fans, with vulgar terms echoing throughout Old Trafford. Currently, the Premier League has not officially responded to the continuous fan overreactions. As the season enters a crucial phase, maintaining stadium order has become an urgent issue for British football.
