[Saba Sports News] From April 19th to 21st, the 2024 F1 Chinese Grand
Prix will commence at the Shanghai International Circuit. Jiading District,
where the circuit is located, has embraced the “waste-free city”
concept in the preparation and execution of the event. By promoting a
“no-waste” approach, the aim is to foster a green production mindset
and encourage sustainable lifestyles throughout society. As part of these
efforts, Shanghai University has created a check-in wall featuring various
waste items, which will be unveiled on the day of the competition. Waste tires,
ropes, socks, and other discarded items take center stage in this innovative
display. Students from Shanghai University’s School of Environmental Science
noticed a surplus of waste tires in the campus car repair shop, which were not
promptly addressed by the repair technicians. In response, they decided to
recycle these tires and transform them into decorations and flower baskets,
reducing resource wastage. Using knives, the students shaped and sized the
tires into unique flower pots. They then applied vibrant colors, patterns, and
designs using paints and brushes, enhancing their beauty. In addition to
repurposing discarded tires, the students also utilized old socks and cotton.
Through cutting, filling, and sewing, they created lifelike decorations in the
shape of small animals, infusing vitality into the check-in wall and promoting
the “nothing goes to waste” ethos of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix.
