The 27-year-old Soh Wooi Yik is a men’s doubles badminton player, and for most of his career, he has partnered with Aaron Chia Teng Fong. The two won the men’s doubles silver medal at the All England Open in 2019 and the men’s doubles gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games, establishing themselves in the top tier of men’s doubles badminton worldwide.
At the Tokyo Olympics, Soh and Chia advanced to the men’s doubles semifinals against the odds, but they lost to the Chinese pair Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen, ultimately securing a bronze medal. In the 2022 Badminton World Championships, Soh and Chia battled through to clinch the men’s doubles championship, making them the first in Malaysia’s badminton history to win a championship title in a single event.
