[Saba Sports News] Former Australia captain Aaron Finch has named his key bowlers for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, placing Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj in the same league as seasoned veterans like Trent Boult, Mitchell Starc, and Kagiso Rabada.
Regarding Ravichandran Ashwin’s potential selection for India’s final 15 in the World Cup, Finch believes it will hinge on the playing surfaces. While he doesn’t foresee Ashwin making the cut, he sees immense value in the experience he brings, suggesting that the current squad playing against Australia could learn a great deal from him.
Finch stated, “Well, the reason I retired – Bhuvi. He’s the one that I always tried to avoid, but neither of us are playing now, so that’s I think new ball bowlers who can swing, are a danger to everyone. I think Trent Bolt, Mitchell Starc, and Rabada, these guys, especially Siraj, he’s as good as anyone in the world at the moment.”
Faf du Plessis, former South Africa skipper, echoed Finch’s selections and added spinner Kuldeep Yadav to his list of key bowlers for the World Cup, emphasizing Yadav’s ability to turn the ball both ways. Both captains agreed that the choice of bowlers would depend on the pitch conditions during the tournament.
