[Saba Sports News] Iconic batsmen Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, known for their dynamic partnerships at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), maintain a strong off-field bond as well. Recently, de Villiers, now the brand ambassador for South Africa’s premier T20 competition SA20, speculated that Kohli might end his cricket career in South Africa. While Kohli has opted out of the white-ball series in India’s upcoming South Africa tour, he plans to join for the Test matches. De Villiers mused about Kohli possibly playing a final season in the lucrative SA20 league.
De Villiers mentioned that he hasn’t discussed this prospect with Kohli directly but has spoken with former Indian cricketers like Robin Uthappa and RP Singh about reuniting in the T20 format in South Africa. He expressed his enthusiasm for possibly seeing Kohli in the SA20 league.
“I think it would be very possible to get Virat over here. Maybe for his final season, we’ll give him a wonderful farewell for the end of his career,” de Villiers shared. “I haven’t discussed it with any players except for Robin Uthappa and RP Singh. Not so long ago, we did some work together and I told them it would be great to see them over there.”
Regarding his own connection with RCB, de Villiers acknowledged the possibility of a return, possibly in a coaching role, though nothing is confirmed. He expressed a strong emotional bond with RCB and its fans, indicating his eagerness to don the RCB colors again in some capacity in the future.
“I hope so. I mean, my heart is with the RCB. I’ve played there for many, many years. I’ve got a very good connection with the fans of Bangalore, and I’ll always be appreciative for all the support and love over the years. I can’t guarantee anything, but I would absolutely love to see myself in the RCB colours again in the future,” he shared.
