[Saba Sports News] Borussia Dortmund’s new forward signing this summer, Fabio Daniel Soares Silva, is still sidelined due to injury. German media reports reveal that during the summer transfer negotiations, Fabio Silva’s agency concealed the fact that the player had undergone surgery at the end of last season. It is understood that Borussia Dortmund’s executives contacted Fabio Silva as early as the beginning of July and, after several weeks of effort, successfully persuaded the 23-year-old Portuguese striker to join Dortmund. This seemed like an excellent piece of transfer business; however, there was an issue that caused significant anger within Dortmund. The reason is that Dortmund only discovered during the medical check that Silva had also undergone surgery this summer. While Dortmund’s management was well aware that Silva had been absent since his last game on April 19 due to an adductor problem, the club was very surprised to learn he had surgery for it, and Silva’s agency deemed it unnecessary to mention this operation. It wasn’t until Silva’s medical at Dortmund, where he had to disclose his medical history, that Dortmund discovered his injury could not be treated conservatively. Sporting manager Lars Ricken was reportedly very angry about this and made his feelings clear. After Silva’s medical, the club’s executives, along with sporting director Sebastian Kehl, decided to proceed with the transfer anyway. The reasons were: a suitable replacement was not available at short notice, and secondly, AC Milan had significantly intensified their pursuit efforts at the time.
