[Saba Sports News] The situation with Jimmy Butler in Miami appears to have been simmering for quite some time.
NBA writer Jake Fischer reported via Substack on Monday about Butler’s troubling alleged behavior with the Heat, which reportedly dates back over a year.
Among the claims are multiple instances of Butler skipping morning shootarounds entirely and insisting on using private flights instead of traveling with the team charter.
Fischer also noted that Butler’s antics became so grating that even his close friend and teammate Kyle Lowry “grew tired” of them. Lowry’s trade from the Heat in January 2024 suggests that issues with Butler had been ongoing for some time.
As a six-time All-Star, Butler has earned some leeway thanks to the success he’s brought to Miami, including leading the team to NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023.
However, Butler is currently serving a suspension for conduct deemed detrimental to the team, signaling that his behavior has reached a breaking point.
Adding to the controversy, a Heat legend recently claimed that Butler faked an illness to avoid playing in a recent game, fueling speculation about his commitment.
Combined with Butler’s history of messy exits from previous teams, the allegations in Fischer’s report about his “diva behavior” seem increasingly plausible.
As Butler continues to push for a trade out of Miami, these reports cast a shadow over his time with the Heat and raise questions about his next steps.
