Fearing a possible chlorine gas leak, all personnel in the main building were urgently evacuated. The Surrey Fire and Rescue Service quickly arrived on the scene to investigate. It is understood that the incident occurred after Chelsea players had already changed into their training kits. The evacuation did not affect their scheduled training session at 3 PM to prepare for their Premier League match against Sunderland. Subsequently, Chelsea club issued a statement confirming that the fire department had determined the alarm was a “false alarm,” after which players and staff safely returned to the building. Reports indicate that the involved 56-foot-long hydrotherapy pool is a key part of the base’s advanced facilities, equipped with underwater treadmills and cameras, used for player injury recovery and routine relaxation. It is worth noting that this is not the first recent incident at Cobham; previously, British media reported that £30,000 worth of camera equipment had been stolen from the base, and police were informed. The Cobham base cost £20 million and was officially opened in 2007.
