[Saba Sports News] Recently, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced that all senior officials of the Referees Technical Committee have resigned. According to previous reports from several Spanish media outlets, RFEF president Rafael Louzan decided to remove them and plans to transform the committee into a commercial company jointly owned by the RFEF and La Liga. According to Spanish reports, the new structure of the referees technical committee will implement a dual leadership system with a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a Director. It will carry out a comprehensive reform from grassroots selection mechanisms to top decision-making bodies, including systematic restructuring of daily operations, referee evaluation systems, and promotion and relegation policies. The Spanish Football Federation stated in a statement: “The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has agreed to update the leadership of the Referees Technical Committee, which is part of the institution’s broader modernization efforts in various strategic areas.” This decision aims to open a new phase for the Spanish refereeing system and align it with the direction of the refereeing reform group, which includes representatives from the referee community, professional clubs, and the federation.
