[Saba Sports News] According to Gpblog, Fernando Alonso viewed his misfortune with humor after retiring from the F1 United States Grand Prix Sprint race. Alonso’s Sprint race ended on the first lap in Austin. The Spanish driver, who started sixth, was caught in a chain-reaction collision that began when Nico Hulkenberg made contact with Oscar Piastri on the opening lap. Alonso was subsequently hit by Hülkenberg’s car and forced to retire from the Sprint. The Aston Martin driver explained to media how he tried to avoid the first-lap chaos after his unexpected early exit from the Sprint. The 44-year-old Alonso spoke light-heartedly about his luck so far this season. Alonso stated: “We seem to get everything thrown at us. I just laugh about it now. I went to the inside, saw I was about to hit a car, and then we got a puncture. With three wheels, I couldn’t drive back. You need a bit of luck, and clearly, starting from sixth today, we knew luck wasn’t on our side. Every time we start sixth, we end up giving positions away; it always happens to us. When we start 15th or 16th and have nothing to fight for in the race, it’s not a problem then. I’m used to it now; you have to laugh it off.”
