[Saba Sports News] Alpine F1 Team Principal Oliver Oakes stated on renowned journalist James Allen’s F1 podcast that despite signing the more experienced Franco Colapinto as a reserve driver, rookie Jack Doohan will still have a fair opportunity in the 2025 season. However, certain things must be earned by oneself to secure a position, so Doohan must deliver good results. Discussing the benefits Colapinto brings to the Alpine team, Oakes mentioned that Colapinto left a great first impression with his debut at Williams and his addition will provide depth for the team’s future. This is not just about 2025; 2026 and 2027 are coming up, and in F1, it’s challenging to plan what will happen. Sometimes you have to let certain drivers participate in the F1 Grand Prix. This is not to pressure Doohan but to give the team more options.
