[Saba Sports News] The BWT Alpine F1 team, owned by the Renault Group, has been using Renault engines in the Formula One Grand Prix. However, the current Renault power unit is under-performing compared to competitors, and its future success with the 2026 turbocharged hybrid cars is uncertain. According to Autosport, the BWT Alpine F1 team might abandon Renault engines by 2026 and become a customer team. Team principal Bruno Famin has been exploring alternatives and holding talks with other manufacturers. If Alpine decides to switch, and Renault fails to secure an agreement with another manufacturer, Honda might be asked to supply engines under F1 regulations, as it is the only manufacturer not planning to do so in 2026. Groupe Renault is carefully considering this decision and might abandon the 2026 power unit.
