[Saba Sports News] Australia’s stand-in skipper, Alyssa Healy, has signed a three-year contract with the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) franchise Sydney Sixers for the upcoming ninth edition of the competition, which begins on October 19 against the Melbourne Stars. Her new contract extends until the end of the 2025-26 season.
After leading the national team as the stand-in captain during the Women’s Ashes, Healy has found a renewed passion for the game and decided to commit to the WBBL. She emphasized the impact of her captaincy role on her approach to the game and her personal development.
Healy, who will also lead the national team in the upcoming T20I and ODI series against the West Indies due to Meg Lanning’s absence, is excited about the challenges ahead, including World Cups and trips to Bangladesh.
In the recent WBBL draft, the Sydney Sixers added players like Jess Kerr and Chloe Tryon to their squad. Ellyse Perry, another prominent figure, re-signed for two more years with the Sixers and will continue to lead the franchise in the upcoming season.
