[Saba Sports News] In the previous women’s singles semi-final at the Badminton World Championships, world number one An Se-young lost 0-2 to world number four Chen Yufei, missing the final. After returning to South Korea, An Se-young also gave an interview to Korean media. An Se-young expressed: “Many people had expectations for me, and I myself had high hopes for this tournament. It’s regrettable that I couldn’t achieve the desired result. But I believe this was still an opportunity to learn a lot. I think the biggest mistake was failing to believe in myself. Even if mistakes occurred, if I had tried the tactics I prepared before the match, perhaps I wouldn’t have been left with regrets. However, because I was afraid of making mistakes, I held back on many things I should have done, and that’s truly unfortunate. I should have enjoyed the process of each match, but I seemed too fixated on the outcome; my mind was full of achieving good results, which ironically put the cart before the horse. I consider this experience part of the process to improve my strength. I will take step-by-step preparations slowly for the next tournament. In this competition, I was too focused on offense and consequently lost many of my original strengths. From now on, I will continue to maintain my advantages while gradually refining my offensive style. I believe this will slowly lead to a more comprehensive playing style.” When asked about her future goals, An Se-young stated: “I will prepare more thoroughly, ensuring a similar situation does not happen again.”
