[Saba Sports News] On July 28, An Se Young, the world No. 1 women’s singles player, returned to South Korea and answered reporters’ questions at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, responding to injury issues during the China Open and her preparation for the upcoming World Badminton Championships. During the quarterfinals of the China Open last week, An Se Young had to withdraw from her match against Han Yue in the second game due to knee pain, missing the chance to win all Super 1000 titles this year. She revealed that the pain had been with her since she injured her knee during the final of the Hangzhou Asian Games two years ago. This time, it was caused by accumulated fatigue. She admitted she had neglected injury management due to back-to-back matches. To prevent further damage, she decided to withdraw. Fortunately, this injury wasn’t as severe as the one in the Asian Games, and she believes she can return to the court faster than before. Additionally, An Se Young mentioned her future plans, stating she intends to have another check-up on her knee in South Korea and undergo an MRI before making further plans. She reiterated that as an athlete, her goal has always been to reach the peak, and she will focus on the process of reaching it and work hard for that.
