[Saba Sports News] Spanish media reports reveal that Carlo Ancelotti has been accused of two financial crimes committed during his tenure as Real Madrid coach from 2013 to 2015. The Madrid prosecutor’s office has requested a nearly five-year prison sentence for the Italian manager. The accusations stem from Ancelotti’s alleged evasion of more than 1 million euros in taxes during his first spell at Real Madrid. Documents from the Madrid prosecutor’s office indicate that Ancelotti had an obligation to pay taxes in Spain. However, it is alleged that he only included his salary from coaching Real Madrid in his personal income statement, omitting additional income sources such as image rights. Consequently, the Spanish Ministry of Finance contends that Ancelotti concealed and misrepresented his income. Earlier this year, Ancelotti explained the reason for his failure to comply with tax obligations, stating, “This matter began with a declaration in 2015. The prosecutor’s office believed that I was a Spanish resident, but I did not consider myself so. I have paid the fine, and the money is in the prosecutor’s office.” Despite this, the Madrid prosecutor’s office has determined that Ancelotti’s tax evasion amounted to 1.062 million euros and has recommended a prison sentence of four years and nine months.
