[Saba Sports News] Minnesota Timberwolves fans held their breath after Anthony Edwards went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter of Game 2 against the Golden State Warriors.
The 23-year-old was listed as questionable to return at halftime, and a serious injury would have significantly dimmed Minnesota’s hopes of advancing further in the playoffs.
Fortunately, Edwards returned in the second half and showed little to no sign of being hampered, scoring 13 of his 20 points after the break while shooting 4-of-6 from the field.
After the Timberwolves’ 117-93 win, he told TNT’s Lauren Jbara that he was “feeling great,” much to the relief of fans who know their playoff success hinges largely on his health and performance.
Minnesota remained cautious, pulling Edwards with just over four minutes left to avoid any risk of re-injury once the game was out of reach. In his stead, others stepped up — Julius Randle delivered a well-rounded performance with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 11 assists, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker added a crucial 20 points off the bench.
The Timberwolves, who shot 16-of-37 from beyond the arc in Game 2, now look to carry that momentum into Game 3 on Saturday night in the Bay Area at 8:30 PM ET.
