[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, the anti-discrimination organization Kick It Out (KIO) has questioned FIFA’s failure to punish Chelsea player Enzo Fernandez for a racist incident. Last summer, Enzo was involved in controversy after he and his teammates sang a racist song on a bus following Argentina’s Copa America victory. The French Football Federation lodged a complaint with FIFA regarding the incident, and the anti-discrimination organization KIO also conducted an investigation. Recently, KIO’s CEO wrote in a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino: “Despite our inquiries to the FA and FIFA, neither we nor many others have been informed whether an investigation has been conducted or what the results were regarding Enzo or other players’ behavior.” KIO also compared this case to that of Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, who was suspended for seven matches by the FA last year for allegedly racially abusing teammate Son Heung-Min. However, since the incident involving Enzo occurred while representing the national team, the FA lacks jurisdiction.
