[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, 35-year-old former West Ham striker Michail Antonio is currently training with Championship team Charlton. Reports indicate that Charlton is drafting a short-term contract for the free agent that would last until this summer, with discussions focusing on a special arrangement based on “pay-per-match.”
Antonio’s path back to the pitch has been particularly challenging, as it has been 14 months since the severe car accident in December 2024 that resulted in multiple fractures in his leg. Since that incident, Antonio has been unable to participate in any official professional matches within England. Although he represented the Jamaican national team in the Gold Cup last summer and displayed signs of a comeback, Antonio found himself without a club after being released by West Ham, even engaging in sports commentary briefly.
Previously, Antonio had also undergone similar trials and contract negotiations with Brentford and Leicester City but was unable to reach an agreement with either club.
