[Saba Sports News] Although An Se-young did not win the women’s singles title at the All England Open Badminton Championships, she remains the world number one in women’s singles badminton. Recently, International Express published an article titled “Can Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, Yamaguchi Akane, and Tai Tzu-Ying beat world number one An Se-young?” featuring an analysis of An’s playing style by Indian badminton legend Aparna Popat.
Popat stated that An excels in various aspects, including footwork, smash, learning ability, age, personality traits, stability, and her coaching team. While she may not have a particularly outstanding ability like Sindhu’s jump smash or Tai’s deceptive movements, An possesses a clean and powerful hitting style that makes her an exciting player to watch. Popat believes that An has risen as a standout player while others like Tai, Chen Yufei, Yamaguchi, and Sindhu are facing their own challenges. However, if these top female players can regain their peak form, they still have a chance to defeat An.
The editor notes that An Se-young remains unflappable even when trailing; she stays calm even if she loses five points in a row because she is full of confidence, believing that she will be the first to reach 21 points. Her footwork always reflects this confidence.
