[Saba Sports News] Argentine driver Franco Colapinto has been temporarily called up as a reserve driver for Williams F1 Team to replace Logan Sargeant. In three completed races so far, he has achieved 12th, 8th, and 11th places, showing commendable performance. Colapinto’s outstanding performance has sparked significant enthusiasm for F1 events in Argentina and has given the Argentine government hope for a return of F1 Grand Prix events. According to Argentine media reports, the government is actively exploring possibilities for hosting F1 races again and hopes to boost tourism through this opportunity. However, reviving F1 events is not an easy task. The last time Argentina hosted an F1 Grand Prix was back in 1998 at the Oscar Galvez Circuit in Buenos Aires. Since then, the circuit has gradually fallen into disrepair; restoring it to FIA Grade 2 standards would require an investment of at least $20 million for repairs and upgrades. To host an F1 Grand Prix, it would need to be upgraded to FIA Grade 1 standards, which would require even more funding.
