[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, a study has named Arsenal and Nottingham Forest fans as the two most unpopular fan groups in the Premier League at present. Arsenal may be leading on the pitch as they chase their first Premier League title in more than 20 years, but off the pitch, they have picked up a far-from-desirable “honour”.
A comprehensive new study has rated Arsenal supporters as the most unpopular fanbase in the Premier League. The research suggests that the North London club’s return to the top of the game has generated a huge amount of external hostility from rival fans on social media platforms. Using the advanced social listening tool Brandwatch, the study analysed hundreds of thousands of online posts over the past six months. Its aim was to measure the levels of positive and negative sentiment directed at each club’s fanbase. According to the data, Arsenal recorded a negative sentiment rating of 43%, which is the highest in the entire league.
The editor believes that Arsenal’s massive global fanbase, combined with the constant and often heated nature of online football debates, has intensified the scrutiny on their supporters. As the club continues to compete for trophies, the intensity of these digital interactions shows no sign of slowing down, further cementing their reputation as one of the most polarising fan groups in the league.
