[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Arsenal have qualified for the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest, but fans heading to watch the match are facing huge pressure over travel, accommodation and itinerary arrangements. This final is set to become the most expensive Champions League final in history for spectators. In terms of travel, the most expensive direct flights from London to Budapest cost up to £1,500. Accommodation across the city is in extremely short supply, with the remaining available hotels located around 20 miles from the city centre. To ease passenger flow, Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air will add up to eight additional round-trip flights between London and Budapest on May 29th, with a further six extra flights scheduled for the following day. Due to the shortage of direct flight options, many fans have no choice but to take alternative routes: flying to nearby cities such as Vienna, Bratislava and Bucharest, then taking around 15 hours by train or coach to reach the match venue. Another option is an intercity coach service costing £300 for a round trip, but the journey takes 48 hours in total and requires an overnight stop in Nuremberg. Many fans will have to travel through the night just to attend the game.
The editor believes that another major travel headache for fans. Reports suggest that if Arsenal clinch either the Premier League or Champions League title, the club will hold a victory parade in North London on May 31st, the day after the final. This means fans who stay up late watching the final will also have to scramble to book scarce flights, just to get back to London in time for the parade by noon the next day — making their travel arrangements far more challenging.
