[Saba Sports News] According to British media, despite losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the penalty shootout of the UEFA Champions League final, Arsenal set a new financial record by achieving the highest prize money haul in the competition’s history this season. Reports state that the club had already secured approximately £125.18 million in Champions League prize money ahead of the final. Even without lifting the trophy, Arsenal earned an additional £16 million as runners-up. It has been a highly lucrative Champions League campaign for the side. Earlier in the season, Arsenal collected £85.3 million from initial TV revenue shares and league ranking bonuses. The team also reaped substantial rewards for their on-field performances. They stormed to eight consecutive wins in the group stage and topped the table to advance straight to the round of 16, bypassing the knockout play-offs. This winning run brought in £15.8 million, while the direct qualification earned another £11.3 million.
The editor believes that Arsenal’s total Champions League prize money this season stands at £141.18 million, surpassing the £124.62 million that Paris Saint-Germain earned when they claimed the title in Munich last season.
