According to Brazil’s Globo TV program Vai, Brasil, 34-year-old Neymar opened up and confirmed that this World Cup will mark his farewell appearance at the tournament.
Neymar shared: “Even though this is my fourth World Cup, the feeling is totally different. So many stories have unfolded along the way, and it is obvious that this is my last time stepping onto the World Cup pitch. Right now I feel like an 18-year-old boy who is about to take part in his very first World Cup.”
“I feel extremely proud and delighted to be here. I will cherish every single second and every moment of this tournament, hoping it can turn into a special memory worth holding onto forever.”
Neymar previously featured in three World Cups in 2014, 2018 and 2022. Across 13 appearances, he scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists for Brazil.
