[Saba Sports News] Earlier this year, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri endorsed the Australian burger chain Grill’d. The brand originally set a promotion: from September 8th to December 9th, 2025, if Piastri stood on the podium in an F1 Grand Prix, customers could buy one get one free on the “Oscar Piastri Limited Edition Burger” the following Monday. However, Piastri has not stood on the podium since his third-place finish at the Italian F1 Grand Prix on September 7th. Consequently, Grill’d changed the promotion’s condition: now, customers get the buy-one-get-one-free offer simply if Piastri finishes the race. Some fans jokingly identified the reason for Piastri’s poor results. Others pointed out that Grill’d had triggered the mysterious “Burger Curse” in sports. In response, Grill’d posted a humorous apology: “To all who believe in the ‘curse,’ we deeply apologize. We never intended to make a burger so delicious it could alter the course of F1 history.”
