The announcement was made in both Japanese and English to all her fans and supporters. In her message, Ohori stated that her badminton career has not always been smooth sailing, but with the support of many people, she has successfully overcome challenges. Without them, she would not have achieved her current success. Ohori revealed that she has learned many lessons through badminton and had many wonderful encounters. She loves badminton very much, and her 22-year competitive career has been a very happy time for her, making retirement a difficult decision. The Kumamoto Masters will be her last competition in Japan. According to reports, Ohori is currently ranked 4th in women’s singles and has qualified for the BWF Tour Finals scheduled for late December. If she participates, it may become her final performance on the international badminton stage.
