[Saba Sports News] Japanese badminton legend Kento Momota recently attended the Penang Badminton Association’s centenary celebration as a guest, drawing significant attention from fans. He joined other badminton greats such as Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei and Indonesian Olympic men’s singles gold medalist Taufik Hidayat to witness this historic moment together. Established in 1925, the Penang Badminton Association predates the founding of the Badminton World Federation by nine years. During the celebration, a Hall of Fame exhibition was held, displaying trophies and memorabilia from Penang and Malaysian badminton legends, allowing fans to experience the history of badminton up close. We believe that gathering these three “iconic” figures from different countries and eras – Kento Momota, Lee Chong Wei, and Taufik Hidayat – is itself an attention-grabbing event. For global badminton fans, this is a rare opportunity to see them share the stage in a different context, with symbolic meaning and nostalgic value far exceeding that of an ordinary commercial event.
