[Saba Sports News] On April 26th, multiple World Badminton Federation social media accounts simultaneously updated to announce Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul’s election as the new president (2025-2029), making her the second female president in the history of the World Badminton Federation. In the voting election, Leeswadtrakul ran unopposed, thus automatically elected. Former World Badminton Federation President Poul-Erik Hoyer Larsen ended his 12-year term. Many fans have high expectations for the new World Badminton Federation president, hoping that she will make improvements in badminton rules, tournament scheduling, and the system requiring top athletes to participate, among others, to make the system more conducive to the healthy development of the sport. It is reported that Leeswadtrakul holds several positions and is a well-known businessman in Thailand. Before assuming office, she served as the chairman of the Thai Badminton Association. She is also one of the founders of G Steel Group, the largest steel producer in Thailand, and chairman of the Bangkok Anoma Hotel Group. She is an IOC member and president of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO).
