[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media, due to a concert at Montjuic Stadium on September 12, it will not be possible to complete the stadium’s transformation in two days to accommodate a formal match. Therefore, Barcelona may play their first La Liga home match of the season at Johan Cruyff Stadium. If this happens, it will be the first time the first team plays a formal match at this stadium. The stadium can only hold 6,000 spectators, which seems ridiculous compared to the new Camp Nou, which will hold 104,600. Worse still, the Champions League issue is also pressing. The first group stage matches are scheduled for September 16–17, just two days after the league opener against Valencia. If Barcelona is drawn to play away in the first Champions League match, their first home match could be postponed until September 30 or October 1. However, regardless of the outcome, UEFA requires clubs to submit their home match arrangements around a month before the game, i.e., by late August. Therefore, Barcelona must confirm by late August whether the new Camp Nou can host matches in mid-to-late September. Otherwise, they will have to return to Montjuic Stadium until the end of the Champions League group stage in January 2026.
