[Saba Sports News] Since 2009, the Barcelona Foundation has been committed to improving the lives of refugee children and adolescents in Catalonia, Greece, and some African, Asian, and Latin American countries through its own projects and collaboration with UNHCR. Two male team players, Marc Casado and Wojciech Szczesny, as well as two female team players, Irene Paredes Hernandez and Ellie Roebuck, discussed the serious situation faced by refugees and displaced persons, whose numbers continue to increase annually. These video messages were released to commemorate World Refugee Day on June 20th and also outlined the work carried out by the Barcelona Foundation in this area. The club and its foundation’s commitment to refugee causes are put into practice not only through their own projects but also through collaborations with other organizations and entities, particularly benefiting from the global alliance signed with UNHCR in 2022. This alliance allows Barcelona’s men’s and women’s teams and the Genuine football team of the Barcelona Foundation to feature the organization’s logo on the back of their jerseys. Through the alliance with UNHCR, the FC Barcelona Foundation carries out work in four different continents: Turkey, Uganda, Malaysia, and El Salvador.
