[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, UEFA has collaborated with the European Football Clubs (EFC) to establish a welfare program for clubs participating in the 2025 Women’s European Championship. This year, it distributed €9 million to 103 European clubs, with Barcelona receiving the highest amount of €567,210, while Real Madrid received €260,610. This fund reflects the growing success of the Women’s European Championship and highlights its importance as a key driver for the continued development of women’s football.
The funds not only reward elite clubs but also support amateur clubs whose players have been chosen for their national teams to participate in the 2025 Women’s European Championship, acknowledging the crucial role that clubs at all levels play in developing players and supporting the success of national teams.
The significant increase in club welfare payments mirrors a broader rise in prize distribution, including a 156% increase in Women’s European Championship prize money, and for the first time, players are guaranteed a share of the prize money. These increases are accompanied by record-breaking matches, both on and off the field, reflecting our ongoing commitment to women’s football across Europe.
