[Saba Sports News] Previously, when Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer passed away, the club announced the permanent retirement of the number 5 jersey. Recently, Bayern Munich also announced that they will host a “Beckenbauer Cup” legends match as a tribute. To commemorate the club’s 125th anniversary, Bayern Munich will hold the “Beckenbauer” Cup legends match on March 17, 2025, with the proceeds donated to the Beckenbauer Foundation. Without Beckenbauer, Bayern Munich’s success would have been significantly diminished. His name will always be closely associated with the club. Beckenbauer was always willing to listen to everyone’s voice and ready to offer help. It is reported that Real Madrid, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Stuttgart have already been invited to participate. Additionally, another international top team will compete. Club legend Philipp Lahm will join the Bayern Munich legends team as a coach. Bayern Munich officials revealed that the matches will take place on March 17 at 6:30 PM on artificial turf, surrounded by LED screens. Each match will only last ten minutes (with two six-minute matches starting from the semifinals). Group winners will advance to the semifinals, losers will compete for third place, and winners will enter the “Beckenbauer Cup” final.
