Sports News] In the midweek UEFA Champions League group stage, Benfica drew 3-3
against Inter Milan at home. However, an unpleasant incident occurred after the
match. According to Portuguese media reports, approximately 50 radical Benfica
fans wearing black clothes and wielding batons stormed into the Lisbon
Aeroporto Stay hotel where Inter Milan fans were staying and caused extensive
damage through violent acts of vandalism. This incident resulted in significant
economic losses, but fortunately, no one was injured in the conflict.
Currently, the local Portuguese police are using video surveillance to identify
the perpetrators.
In
addition, the other two hotels where Inter Milan fans were accommodated also
experienced stone-throwing attacks by extremist Benfica fans. It is perplexing
why these radical Benfica fans would vandalize hotels in their own city. Not
only did this cause substantial economic losses to their own city’s hotels, but
it also put themselves on the wanted list by the authorities. It is hoped that
fans present at the stadium can remain calm and refrain from engaging in
illegal activities.
