[Saba Sports News] Recently, Championship club Birmingham City unveiled the design plan for their new home stadium. The stadium, with a capacity of 62,000, is expected to be completed by 2030. Located in the Bordesley Green area of eastern Birmingham, it will embody the local industrial heritage while incorporating cutting-edge engineering technology, becoming a new landmark for the city. As the centerpiece of the planned sports district, it will drive the transformation of the entire area into a vibrant sports and cultural destination. The design features a retractable roof and movable turf, allowing for flexible hosting of major sports events, international music festivals, and diverse cultural experiences year-round. The stands adopt a steep bowl-shaped structure with 360-degree wraparound seating to maximize proximity between spectators and the field. The stadium’s exceptional acoustic design will amplify fan chants, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for home supporters. Twelve chimney-shaped towers reference the historical brick kiln industrial heritage of the site, providing structural support for the roof while housing elevators, stairs, and ventilation systems. One of these towers will include an elevator leading directly to Birmingham’s highest bar, offering panoramic city views and an immersive storytelling space. The entire precinct will be developed into a year-round destination, equipped with markets, cafes, restaurants, play areas, and other spaces for everyone to enjoy.
