[Saba Sports News] NBA players may seem larger than life—literally—but sometimes they’re more relatable than we think.
Portland Trail Blazers rookie Hansen Yang was one of the biggest risers in the 2025 NBA Draft. The 7’1″ center from China impressed scouts at the NBA Draft Combine last month, leading to his selection at No. 16 by the Memphis Grizzlies. Portland later acquired his draft rights.
Following his introductory press conference, Yang’s popularity skyrocketed thanks to a charming and relatable quote. Asked—via translator—about his interests outside basketball, the 20-year-old replied with a laugh:
“Sometimes, I sleep. All the time sleep. I like to play PS5. I like to eat.”
Yang, who plays for the Chinese national team, clearly works hard on the court. But off it, he sounds like any regular person just trying to relax after a long day—something that instantly endeared him to fans online.
Some even drew comparisons between Yang and a certain three-time MVP from Serbia.
The resemblance isn’t just in their laid-back attitudes—Yang also turned heads at the combine with his advanced passing skills for a big man.
While the Jokic comparisons may be premature, Hansen Yang is already building a fanbase that’s eager to watch his development.
