[Saba Sports News] In a pre-training camp interview, Lakers rookie Bronny James spoke openly about his team, new head coach JJ Redick, and his expectations for the upcoming season. While he admitted to feeling some nerves, he expressed excitement about learning from his teammates.
“There are definitely nerves,” James said. “But I’m excited to learn from the players ahead of me. And if I get a chance to showcase my skills, I’ll take it.”
Although his pre-season debut date is still unannounced, James, drafted 55th overall, is ready to make his mark. His success will depend on Redick, who is new to the coaching role but has made a strong impression so far.
“He’s been a great coach so far. The vibes are amazing in the facility,” James shared.
Bronny, 19, earned the Lakers’ trust after his freshman season at USC and a solid Summer League performance. He’s now on a four-year contract with the Lakers, with plans for gradual development, potentially starting with the G-League.
The Lakers won’t rush Bronny’s progress, as Redick is committed to a cautious approach with the rookies. Unlike in past years, the Lakers’ locker room has a newfound cohesion.
At 39, LeBron may not be able to carry the team alone, but with Bronny’s growth and Redick’s guidance, they might exceed expectations this season.
As the next in line to the James legacy, Bronny seems ready for the challenge, with a supportive coach eager to help him succeed.
