As newly signed forward Drew Timme made his NBA debut, Barclays Center erupted with a loud “TIMMY!” every time he scored — a direct nod to the iconic *South Park* character known for shouting his own name.
Timme, a former Gonzaga star and three-time All-American, recently inked a multi-year deal with the Nets after tearing up the G League (including a 50-point game and a 23.9 PPG average).
In his debut vs. the Clippers, he posted an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double, and followed it up with 19 points and six boards in a win over the Washington Wizards — even delivering the go-ahead bucket in the final seconds (on a goaltending call, but still).
At just 24, Timme might’ve missed South Park’s original heyday, but that didn’t stop the Nets from making the most of a golden name-related opportunity. The moment quickly went viral, and fans couldn’t get enough of the throwback shoutout.
And for what it’s worth — *South Park* has crossed into the NBA world before, famously poking fun at LeBron James over his comments on China. Looks like Timme is in good company.
