[Saba Sports News] Zach LaVine might find himself transitioning from one challenging basketball environment to an arguably tougher one.
According to James Edwards III of The Athletic, the Chicago Bulls are in talks with the Detroit Pistons regarding a potential trade involving LaVine. The Bulls are reportedly focusing on a deal that would include forward Bojan Bogdanovic and one of the Pistons’ top young talents.
The Pistons, currently at the bottom of the league standings with a 5-39 record, are an unexpected choice for LaVine, given their status as one of the NBA’s least appealing teams. Despite this, the Pistons are looking to acquire talent before the February 8 trade deadline and have the salary cap space to take on a significant contract.
The Bulls have been trying to trade the 28-year-old former All-Star for some time, but LaVine’s contract, which is in its second year of a five-year, $215.2 million maximum deal, has been a deterrent for many teams. With a previously reported bleak outlook on LaVine’s trade market, the Bulls might have limited options, making a deal with their division rival Pistons a more viable route.
