[Saba Sports News] With the conclusion of the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals, the BWF has updated the prize money rankings for active badminton players. Among the top ten players, seven are Olympic champions. Surprisingly, the player with the highest total prize money is not an Olympic champion or a world champion but Tai Tzu-ying from Chinese Taipei, with a total of $2.2 million. Throughout her career, Tai has won 36 gold medals, earning her the title of “Queen of the Open Tournaments” among fans. The second place goes to Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen, with total prize money of $2.19 million; third is Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi with $1.97 million; fourth is South Korea’s An Se-young with $1.62 million; and fifth is China’s mixed doubles star Zheng Siwei with $1.57 million. In my view, badminton is becoming increasingly popular and its commercial value is rising, so the competition for this prize money ranking will surely become more intense in the future.
