[Saba Sports News] The brand-new Cadillac F1 team recently completed its first test of the 2026 season car at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK, marking an important step for Cadillac as it officially enters Formula 1. According to the plan, Cadillac will use Ferrari’s customer engine during its initial F1 phase, while the team’s self-developed power unit is still under development. As early as last August, the team officially announced that Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas would form its first official driver lineup in history, bringing experience and stability to this new team. Just recently, Audi was the first to complete its initial on-track test of the 2026 car in Barcelona, and Cadillac quickly followed suit with a low-key yet significant secret test at Silverstone. This track test was not open to the public, but Cadillac quickly shared relevant information through official social media, attracting outside attention. Newly joined reserve driver Zhou Guanyu also posted a brief video on social media confirming the test. He stated that the team was conducting shake-down tests for the new season at Silverstone, creating an exciting overall atmosphere. He explained that the core aim of this test was not to pursue speed but to ensure that all systems of the car were functioning properly, including the gearbox, engine, and basic settings.
