[Saba Sports News] Not long ago, the British lower-league team Calstock FC announced a sponsorship agreement with adult film actress Bonnie Brenda. The team planned to print “BB” on their jerseys and feature the slogan “Up The Bonnie Blue Bees” on the back. This caused public attention, even drawing involvement from the English Football Association for investigation. Ultimately, Calstock FC announced the cancellation of the sponsorship deal with the adult star. In a statement, they wrote: “As many know, we signed a sponsorship agreement with Bonnie Brenda and released our new away kit. However, due to rules set by the English FA, we will no longer produce jerseys featuring ‘BB.’ As a mature club, we firmly oppose any behavior that oppresses women.” It is believed that, as a small local club, Calstock FC may have entered the sponsorship agreement with the adult star due to financial considerations. But faced with the FA’s regulations and heavy criticism on social media, the club felt immense pressure and decided to cancel the sponsorship to avoid further negative impacts. It also shows that the club can respect rules and public opinions when dealing with such issues.
