[Saba Sports News] Recently, UK media introduced the evolution of Manchester United’s Carrington training base, as well as the ongoing £50 million major renovation project. The Carrington training base is located in the southwest suburbs of Manchester, covering 108 acres, with 85 acres in actual use. The facility was opened in 2000, driven by then-manager Ferguson, replacing the previous training ground located in a residential area. At that time, Carrington was regarded as the most advanced training facility in the UK, featuring 15 natural grass pitches and 1 artificial turf pitch, equipped with facilities for the men’s and women’s teams and youth training. However, in recent years, the facilities have become outdated. In 2024, following the takeover by James Ratcliffe, the club initiated the “Avalon Plan” renovation project, primarily focusing on upgrading the buildings for the men’s first team, including expanding the building by an additional 362 square meters of usable space and improving IT systems, gym facilities, medical facilities, nutrition supply, and relaxation areas. Currently, all major structural work has been completed, and construction is ongoing for the exterior, equipment, and internal functional areas. The club plans to complete all renovations before the end of the 2024-25 season.
