Barkley recalled his early dreams for Christina, who stood six feet tall as a teenager, believing she was destined to be a star athlete.
He envisioned teaching her basketball moves and even sought advice from legends like Kevin McHale to prepare her for a bright future on the court. However, his aspirations came to a halt when Christina candidly admitted, “Dad, I hate sports.”
The revelation was a blow. “I couldn’t cry in front of her,” Barkley said. Instead, he hugged her, saying, “I love you no matter what.” But after she left the room, he broke down, mourning the dreams he had projected onto her.
